Where and when does Troop 123 meet?
– Troop meetings are from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at St. Michael the Archangel Church (5750 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085).

What fundraising events does Troop 123 hold?
– Popcorn Sales each Fall – 1/3 of all sales the scout makes goes into his account to support his scouting activities, 1/3 goes to Simon Kenton Council, 1/3 pays for the popcorn
– Christmas Wreath Sales each Fall – Each scout is asked to sell 2 Wreaths, with opportunities after St Michael Masses to meet this goal. The proceeds from the sale support the Troop

What equipment does the troop provide?
– Tents and dining flies for the scouts
– Cooking equipment including cooking stoves, cooking utensils, pots and pans
– Troop lanterns
– Limited number of Troop backpacks for hiking campouts

How much does Scouting Cost?
– Scouts can earn money thru popcorn sales to pay for these expenses
– Yearly Charter Fee: $60
– Yearly Troop Dues: $60
– Monthly Campouts: $12 food plus camp fee most less than $25
– Summer Camp: $350 depending on camp;

How can Adults be involved?
– All Adults must register and be trained for any role in the troop. The training varies based on contact with Scouts.
– Merit Badge Counselors
– Assistant Scout Masters
– Troop Committee Member
– Ad Hoc help like Courts of Honor, drivers, misc activities

Can youth do Scouting and other activities like sports and band?
– Many of our Scouts participate in other activities besides Scouting. With some of those activities counting as requirements for merit badges or rank advancements. It is up to the Scout and their parent to set the priority of participating in each event.
– Scouts can choose which campouts they want to attend and only pay for the ones they do. Each campout has a theme where the scouts can learn something about that subject or can complete requirements for merit badges or rank advancements.
– Scout meetings are held to help Scouts complete requirements, learn new skills, and to plan for campouts. Each meeting has an agenda but scouts can always request help from older scouts and adults on any requirement or skill they want to work on.

Does the Scout have to be Catholic to be a member of Troop 123?
– The Scout does not have to be Catholic and Catholic Scouts do not have to be members of St Michael Church. Troop 123 has a mix of scouts from different faiths.
