Upcoming Nov/Dec 2019 Troop 123 Activities

From our Scoutmaster Rob Fann:

I would like to thank the Troop members, Scouts and adults, who helped with the Worthington Webelos open house this past Wednesday.  It was a successful event and we have an AOL group scheduled for a Monday 11/18.  I will be scheduling Order of the Arrow elections for our Troop.  We will briefly talk about the OA for those who are not familiar.  If you are interested in the OA you must be first class, have at least 15 nights of camping including one long term camp (summer camp) and have Scoutmaster approval to be on the ballot.  Once on the ballot you must be voted in by at least 50% of the Troop membership in order to take the Ordeal and become a member.

Monday, November 18: As mentioned above we have our second Troop 123 Webelo open house.  Please be ready for our visitors by wearing class A uniforms and be ready to help with the activities for the Webelos.  The activities planned are similar to our first open house.

Monday, November 25:We will be talking about wilderness survival, our theme and campout this month.  If you are interested in the merit badge many of the requirements will be covered in our group discussion.  The remainder of the requirements can be completed on the campout and a meeting with the merit badge counselor (Scoutmaster Fann)

Sunday, December 1: We will be hosting Friendship Sunday after all the Masses as we have for many years.  This is one of the ways we show St. Michael we appreciate them chartering our Troop.  We will need several Scouts to help keep the donut trays full and the coffee/milk stocked.  Please commit to help after one, two or all three Masses.

Monday, December 2: Troop 123 Winter Court of Honor.  This event is for the whole family.  It is recognition for this past quarter’s achievements.  We will also plan menus for the December campout.

December 6-8: Wilderness survival campout at Camp Falling Rock.  You do not have to be earning the merit badge to participate in the campout.  One of the requirements of the merit badge is to build a natural shelter and sleep in it overnight, you do not have to do this you can sleep in a tent as usual.  The skills we will learn and demonstrate are good to know and are a good refresher to the scouts who have done this before.
